About

I’m a registered nurse and professional writer who cares about clarity, accuracy, and impact. For nearly two decades, I’ve been telling stories, editing ideas, and shaping communications for industries as varied as healthcare, health insurance, law, outdoor adventure, and finance.

I live in the charming mountain town of Flagstaff, Arizona with my wife, our son, and our dog. When I’m not writing or working with clients, you’ll usually find me climbing, reading, or outside with my family.

  • Writing & Work: Since 2007, I’ve written for outdoor publications and brands, published three books—including Dammed If You Don’t, winner of the 2021 Banff Mountain Fiction & Poetry Award—and worked in financial, legal, and healthcare communications. From patient education and health insurance copywriting to legal editing and ghostwriting, my work has always been about turning complex ideas into clear, compelling, and useful writing.

  • Conservation & Values: I’ve spent nearly a third of my life working to protect the Cochamó Valley in Chilean Patagonia. My involvement has ranged from opening new climbing routes to fundraising, grant writing, and supporting local conservation projects. It’s work I’m deeply proud, and honored, to be a part of. If you’d like to help protect this extraordinary place, please visit Conserva Pucheguin.

  • Now: These days, I take on a select number of projects each year. I enjoy working with clients in any industry, so long as the work is thoughtful, creative, and values-driven. If you think I might be the right fit for your project, feel free to reach out.
